Scheveningen has many go to’s in my opinion, De Keizerstraat is one of those streets which is packed with them.
 
I want to talk to you about Meneer Chocola! Sounds delicious, right?! Well I can tell you, it is! Meneer Chocola is a superrrrelaxed coffee bar, lunchroom and patisserie all-in-one. Owned by Boris and Ted, both passionate about surfing and patisserie.
 
Cool vibes
I love the vibe of this place. It makes me feel like my Summers in France. I went there to surf for the last three years (ok I have to admit, I tried to surf ;)). Meneer Chocola has the same vibe as the surf camp: people walk in and out to chat, surf, eat & chill. If they had to come up with an other name for this place, it wouldn have been something like: Surfers Paradise in Scheveningen. All the decorations on the walls, the skateboards and (old) surf photos… It’s like I’m back in France!
 
The menu
But there is more: the -oh my oeh la la- menu. It’s good! Of course I had to try the “Meneer Chocola”, a very thick but fluffy and light pancake with Nutella and orange jam. We have to talk about this combination. Why do people always only use Nutella? This combo is much better. It’s not that heavy and it brings something even more special to your pancake. In other words: I loved it. Go here and try this sh*t.
 
Like I said, Boris and Ted are both pastry cooks and because of this their range of pies is insane! What about mango coco pie, Oreo cheesecake, carrot cake, chocolate pie or passionfruit cheesecake? And that’s not even all of it… yep, I told you this place is good. Oh, and they also give workshops about chocolate (create your own bonbons) and pies.
 
Other nice things on the menu: yoghurt with cruesli (and apple-pear compote or banana caramel – good luck choosing btw), sandwiches (f.e. sobrasada with manchego), different croques, eggs in all kinds of ways, more pancakes, salads and the mother of all surf camps: burgers.
 
Besides the food, Meneer Chocola loves bakkies, they have a thing for coffee. Also good is the hot white chocolate, fresh ginger tea with mint and a slice of orange, and fresh juices.
