Yesterday the renovated part of De Pier opened for the public again! Did you know that the previous pier opened in 1901 and burned down in 1943? The Germans decided at that time to break the whole thing down, because they were afraid for an attack starting at sea during WW2. After the war, this pier was built in 1961 and opened by Prins Bernhard. Now you can enjoy the upper deck again, 800 people at a time. They are renovating the lower part at this moment, a hamburger bar will be opened in the future and a big wheel as well! What do you think, isn’t she a beauty and an icon of Den Haag?
