Award winning food. I’ve dreamed about it, but I never tasted it. Because of the fact that it’s just so damn expensive.
I wanted to go to HanTing Cuisine for years, because their food is actually award winning. Let me tell you more about that:
- They have one Michelin star.
- 16 points by GaultMillau and they named HanTing’s sommelier Saskia Schurink Sommelier of the year 2015.
- TripAdvisor recently named them the best Fine Dining restaurant of The Netherlands.
- Oh, and that same TripAdvisor rated this restaurant 14th OF THE WORLD in that same category.
So yeah, you can imagine, this is restaurant was definitely on top of my Den Haag To Go list (trust me, this is a loooong list).
And then my BF surprised me a few weeks ago…! We went to HanTing.
I was so happy about it, I even was a bit nervous to be honest. What will the food be like? What kind of wine should I drink? And… WHAT ABOUT ALL THE FREAKING CUTLERY?! I know all the basic rules, but hey, this was the real deal.
So we went, and it was beyond amazing. All the dishes looked incredible, like little pieces of art: perfectly balanced colours, shapes and –the most important thing- flavours. I’m one of those annoying girls that takes 10 food pictures, but it was just so pretty, I needed to do it anyway.
What I like the most about Hanting, is the very relaxed atmosphere. I was expecting a stiff atmosphere because of their reputation. But for a girl like me, who is not used to eat at restaurants like this, it was totally fine.
The food almost made my cry (because it was just that special) the wine was excellent (I don’t know much about GaultMillau, but they are right) and the cutlery… Just watch and learn people 😉
