About

It’s still Harruwari! Yes, this February it’s all about Haagse Harry.

Who is Haagse Harry? Harry is this the name of a serie of 5 Dutch comics, in which the main character is named Harry. Harry is from The Hague, he’s unemployed, swears a lot, is a huge ADO Den Haag hooligan.. and, he has a big heart! The best thing: all the comics were written in the The Hague dialect: Haags.

Marnix Rueb lived in the Schilderswijk, this neighborhood inspired him and so he created Harry in 1991, and he’s an icon ever since. Unfortunately Marnix Rueb died in October 2014, the city lost one of his heroes that day.

On the 25th of February 2016 they revealed the huge statue of Harry at the Grote Markt and it’s so cool!  Artist Bouke Scheme designed it and ceramics artist Struktuur68 realized it and it’s impressive: the thing is 3000 kilo and 2 meters high!

Harry is watching over the city now, it’s a great way of honoring Marnix Rueb’s work in my opinion.
