A few weeks ago I visited the beautiful Anna Paulowna Boutique Hotel. During this visit we got the chance to eat at the hotels restaurant, Hortus.
We have to go back in time to tell you more about the reason behind Restaurant Hortus. On the 3rd of June 1920 the British Guyana was born. At Hortus they say: “A remarkable lady, our grandmother, who would become a remarkable cook. She was known for her hospitality and great flavours everywhere she went”. In March 2015 they opened the stylish restaurant in her honour. Now, that’s family love!
Hortus: vegetarian and vegan all over
Let me tell you more about Restaurant Hortus’ menu. This restaurant serves you an excellent vegetarian shared dining experience. Only vegetarian and even vegan diches are on the menu and I have to admit (yes, I was a bit sceptical): it’s supersuperdelicious. All of it is prepared with local, sustainably grown and organic produced ingredients wherever possible.
Restaurant Manager John is more than happy to tell you all about the products and ingredients, this man truly knows all about it. He’s an very entertaining and educated expert on them, I really liked his detailed stories.
Like art
An other thing I really liked about Hortus is the way the present the diches, they all look like little pieces of (delicious) art. Eventhough the food looks like art, the vibe at this restaurant is very relaxed. The place looks modern and you can even sit outside on the terrace during Summer. Woohoo!
Let me know what you think of the place and say ‘Hi’ to John. In my opinion grandma Guyana can be proud!
