Although I write in English, I’m a true Dutchie, born and raised in The Hague. That being said, I like cheese. Or better said, I L-O-V-E cheese – on a ‘tosti’, on a platter with port & wine, in the middle of the night.. And that’s why I need to tell you more about Ed Boele, De Kaasspeciaalzaak.
Yesterday this store won a cool prize, the one for being the best cheese specialist in Holland, with the best cheese from outside the Netherlands! Whoooop! Now that’s what I call a hell of a prize and it’s more then fair that they won it.
Why? Well, Ed -and his wife Maria’s- store is huge, when entering it, you’ll see cheese everywhere, it’s insane (in a very, very good way). I think they sell over more than 100 different ones in all kinds of flavours, colours, shapes and sizes. As you can imagine, it’s hard to pick one, but Ed’s team is here to help and advise you.
Found one? They do something smart and simple after you payed: they put a sticker with the name of the cheese on the wrapping paper. So you never forget the name or type of the cheese you had. Now that’s perfect for people like me (who forget everything)!
Of course a decent cheese platter needs wine, some port, various jams and (dried) fruits. Ed understands this, so he sells it all.
What are you waiting for? Release your inner mouse and run towards this store!
