Architecture, Shopping

It’s the talk of the town: the new H&M at the Gravenstraat in Den Haag opened today! Of course a lot of hysterical girls visited the store this morning because of the launch of the new H&M x Balmain collection and free goodiebag (did you see the videos online? My lord!). But to be honest, I was more curious about the restoration of the building. The store was built in 1913 and designed by A. Jacut to household the posh warehouse Maison De Bonneterie, you can still see this name on the facade outside. Once inside, take a look at the detailed stairs and look up at the breathtaking ceiling. Can you imagine superfancy people used to shop here in the twenties, wearing their expensive clothes, beautiful hats and clean white gloves? The contrast with today couldn’t have been any bigger!
