Have you seen Nothing Hill? In this romcom movie Julia Roberts met Hugh Grant in a cute tiny shop; the Travel Book Store. This store really existed in the UK, but it actually closed its doors four years ago. To be honest, that doesn’t really matter. Because The Hague has her own Travel Book Store and it’s called Stanley & Livingstone!

The people who work here are very specialized in all kinds of books about traveling, just like Hugh in Nothing Hill. Their collection is amazing, they have books about every part of the world. What I also like about this store, is that they sell a lot of little books and maps about The Hague, in different languages. As you can imagine, I need stores like this because of my carving for stories and fun facts about our town.

But there is more, they also sell maps (small and big ones), globes, post cards, Lonely Planets and giftcards. All perfect gifts for the holidays! A lot of books from this store are on my wish list, so I’ll inform Santa that he needs to pay a visit to our local Hugh.

Thank you! For your lovely story. I was there in the travelbookshop in London. It was fun. But my favorite bookshop in London is Daunts books! They do all we do but top it of with a large collection of old travelbooks. Yammy. Next time when you vissit ask if you can see our showroom of large maps and globes. That is for advanced customers. It is on the other side of the steet on the second floor. See you around and thanks again.
